Carpet Cleaning Prices

If you have never had your carpets professionally cleaned before, it is only natural to wonder what the price would be. If you are having your carpet professionally cleaned, it is also only natural to wonder if you are getting a good value.  Finding the proper balance of quality and value especially with a service such as carpet cleaning can be extremely difficult.  Prices vary from company to company and there can be somewhat of a large price range for the same perceived amount of work.

Carpet cleaning prices can APPEAR to vary even more.  First, take for example the ads we all see.  They are everywhere. They advertise a $6.95 a room price or a $9.00 a room price or a similar amount.  But take a closer look at that ad.  Most state they will demonstrate a deep scrub or dual process or some such other process.  Stating further, in very small print, the price for this process.  We have heard other companies state they charge as much as $1.00 to $1.50 a square foot or more for a normal carpet cleaning.

Prices will also vary from area to area.  This is only common sense.  The cost of living is just generally higher in certain places.  No one is immune to the necessity of making enough to meet this cost of living.

A good way to judge the price for carpet cleaning in your area is to take a look at the other skilled trade companies in your area.  What do they charge for a minimum service call?  What do they charge per hour worked?  Although you generally do not get carpet cleaning quotes per hour, this will give you an idea as to the price per hour that is necessary for a business to survive in your particular area.

Keeping this in mind, we have to consider what would be a reasonable amount of time to allow for a thorough cleaning.  This can vary also depending on the size, soiling conditions, furniture to be moved and many other factors.  This also can vary with your expectations of what a thorough cleaning should entail. Example: Should the baseboards be wiped?  Do you expect to remove some of the items from the cleaning area yourself?  These should be discussed when choosing your carpet cleaner.

But I still haven't directly addressed the question.  As you can see, it is very difficult to give an exact amount.  The best way to get a price for cleaning is to contact potential cleaners and ask for a quote. It may be more than you expected but then again it just may be less. In the Pinellas County, Florida the average skilled trade price per working hour seems to fall in line with the average carpet cleaning price per hour worked.  If you wouldn't expect a plumber to fix a leak for $20.00 or $30.00, why would you expect a carpet cleaner to spend the same amount of time cleaning your carpet for $20.00-$30.00?

Choosing a service, in general, is not the same as choosing a product as we all know. But with carpet cleaning, the end results must be taken into consideration. Paying enough to allow for the proper techniques and procedures will ensure a thorough cleaning.  After all, you wouldn't be paying to have your carpets cleaned if you don't expect them to be clean when you're done.
